I have been Chair of the Board Policy Committee for five months, so it seems like time to post an update. (For background on the purpose and goals of the Policy Committee, please see my earlier post.)
Although policy work is not glamorous, it is a key function of the Board. When I assumed leadership of the committee in late July, only 8% of the 288 required policy updates had been made. With our new approach, we are moving much faster, and are focusing Board attention on the 30-40 key policies changes that really make a difference for UCF.
As shown in the chart below, we have now completed 58% of the required policy changes (green slices). I expect we will hit the 80% mark in March 2015, and be at the 95% mark by fall 2015. So we should finish almost a year ahead of schedule.
None of this would be possible without the support of Mrs. Denise Miller, who does a great job staying on top of all of the policy changes, and organizes all of the changes for Board review. Thank you, Denise!
By the way, the Policy Committee meets tonight, Dec 1, at 6pm in the District Office public conference room. The meeting is open to the public, and residents are welcome to attend!
